Hebrews 12:1-4
2024 has been quite the year already! With this year, I reflect back on nearly 16 years of being married. While each year has had their highs and lows, we’ve generally been continually growing: growing in our relationship, growing our family—the goal, always, is to constantly work towards improvement of ourselves, our family, and our marriage.
When we think of Peter, he stands as the epitome of growing in faith; one of the best examples is him joining Jesus on the water: Matthew 14:22-33 Amazingly, he is able to do something no one other than Jesus ever did: he’s able to walk on the water! But, of course, he eventually starts to fall—why?
But when he saw the wind, he was afraid and, beginning to sink, cried out, “Lord, save me!” 31 Immediately Jesus reached out his hand and caught him. “You of little faith,” he said, “why did you doubt?”(Matthew 14:30-31)
The reason he begins to slip beneath the waves is because he loses his focus, and when he does, his faith suffers.
